Hi Friends!
It’s a beautiful day here in NY and I started my day with a smile. Even though this is the dreaded day that I take over for my coworker AND the fact that I had to be in an hour early nothing was going to change my spirits. Want to know why?
I was a busy girl last night and these were the end result of my blood, sweat & tears.
Ok, maybe that’s stretching the truth a bit. 😉 They did come from the heart though and I could have easily crashed after FINALLY eating dinner at 8:15 PM. Seriously, where does the time go?!?!
I love to bake and will go all out for the people who I care about. Unbeknownst to me, Rob came into the room and was watching me as I delicately spread the frosting onto the cupcakes. Eventually, I looked up and noticed him staring at me with a smile. He stated that I wasn’t meant to work in an office. I asked if that was because of the goofy grin on my face as I worked with the cupcakes. LOL. He said that the love can be seen in my work because I go out of my way to make my baked goods perfect, no matter what strange hour I’m found in the kitchen working on them.
To me, these were nothing really special. They were a boxed Funfetti cake mix that I whipped up to help my boss celebrate his birthday. I knew his day was going to be full of meetings so I thought his belly should be full of happiness.
Wouldn’t one of these make you smile?
It’s really the thought and the special little touches that make a difference to others. I know it’s always the little things that make me happiest.
The little things like a touch of star-shaped sprinkles to add a glimmer of color and happiness to someone’s day.
The best part was the smile on my boss’ face and the story that he told me when he saw the cupcakes. He said that his wife had planned something special for him with their son. Unfortunately, his son was sick this morning and the plan fell through. So he felt like my cupcakes made up for what he missed out on at home.
I could have been lazy last night and not gone to the effort of making anything. Maybe I wouldn’t have veered out of my way during my commute home to get a card for coworkers to sign this morning. I’m so glad that I did though. As you can see, it’s the little things that can make a difference in someone’s day.
Of course, I also made someone’s night last night. A certain boyfriend got into the cupcakes before I wrapped them up.
He licked his lips and said, “you always do such a great job.” Since he buttered me up, I just might have set a plate aside for my love. Then, brought the milk out too. 😉
Wishing you a day full of smiles.
❤
